Motivating your Aesthetic Clinic Team to Provide Outstanding Results

Communication, Empowerment and Team-building.

An enthusiastic team not only improves your working environment, but positively impacts the results of everyone’s work. As a result, you’ll have happy, returning patients and a profitable clinic.

But how do you motivate your team to work hard? Here we share our top tips.

Clear communication and shared vision

Whenever you’re recruiting a new member of staff, you should assess whether their mission and values align with your own. Discussing these in the interview is great, while reinforcing them through targets and team meetings is essential.

Working towards these shared goals will foster a sense of purpose and unity amongst your team, driving them to deliver the best aesthetic results.

Empowerment and autonomy

Encourage your team members to share their ideas and make decisions. This may involve suggesting new skincare products to invest or leading on certain treatment planning.

Doing so will give your staff a sense of pride and responsibility that will motivate them to excel in their work.

Professional development opportunities

Staying in the same role for too long can become boring, leading to a decline in motivation to work hard and the fantastic results that can be achieved. Having personal development plans in place for your aesthetic clinic team is absolutely essential if you want to keep them engaged and motivated.

Talk to each member about where they’d like to be professionally in 1- and 5-years’ time and set goals to help them achieve this. While you may not always have positions open, you can add responsibility to their current roles such as administering a new treatment or managing more junior staff.

Recognition and appreciation

Whenever a team member reaches a target, has an exceptionally successful aesthetic result, excellent feedback from a patient or has just worked particularly hard at something – show them your appreciation!

Making people feel valued goes a long way in keeping them motivated. You can celebrate them in team meetings, mention them in newsletters, highlight them in your social media or keep it private with a personalised thank you note.

Team-building activities

Working together will help streamline the patient journey and build positive relationships within your aesthetic clinic.

Hosting a mix of in-clinic activities and out of work events can allow your team members to mix in a more social environment, which can encourage greater respect and understanding for one another. It can be easy to get bogged down and busy with running a clinic, so plan your team events in advance and give plenty of notice so everyone can attend.

Avoiding risk of complaints and claims

Motivating your team can really boost treatment results and keep patients happy. If, however, you find that patients aren’t satisfied and are making complaints, then it’s essential that you have insurance coverage in place to protect you and your team if claims are made.
