Work/Life Balance
Running an aesthetic clinic is no easy task. From delivering the highest standard of treatments to managing the overall business, there’s always so much to do and you may find it difficult to make time for yourself and your family.
While working hard can reap benefits, working excessively can lead to burnout, a decline in standards and potential complaints and, in worst-case scenarios, business failure.
Here at Enhance Insurance, we want to help minimise any risk to your aesthetic clinic business so are always on hand with expert advice.
Set clear boundaries
Aim to have specific work hours to allow you to work out what can be achieved during that time, so business doesn’t encroach on your personal life.
If possible, schedule specific periods for checking emails and responding to patient enquiries to allow for more focused work.
Don’t be afraid to delegate
Sharing the workload will not only benefit you, but can also empower your team. Giving members extra responsibility will keep them motivated and give them a sense of pride in their work.
Delegating can be daunting, so start with small tasks and give plenty of guidance on the standards you and your patients will expect.
Take regular breaks
Incorporating short breaks into your day can help recharge your mind and body. Whether it’s going for a quick walk or practising meditation at your desk, a break will brighten your mood and may even spark some creativity!
An organised diary will help you stick to your breaks, so ensure you don’t book in patients back-to-back.
Learn to say no
Overcommitting to work or personal obligations can lead to stress and burnout. Understand your limitations and be comfortable saying no when necessary. This applies in clinic with patients requesting particular treatment that may be outside your scope of practice or take too long, and in your personal life if certain events or activities aren’t going to benefit you.
Prioritise your well-being by being selective about the tasks and responsibilities you take on.
Recognise when you’re doing too much
Noticing when you’re feeling burnt out and taking action following the above steps will reduce the potential negative impact on your aesthetic business.
If you’ve passed that point and need to step away from your clinic to prioritise your mental health, then having business interruption insurance in place can be so valuable. Get in touch with us today to find out more!
